Marvellous news. I’m doing a radio programme with the BBC. And other stuff!

So the last few weeks have been utterly busy!

Not only have I been travelling lots. Just check it out below:

But I’ve also been doing a bit of media stuff.

And you know what?

I won’t lie.

I like doing things with the media.

I’m not afraid of the camera or the microphone. I like talking.

And I have bundles of enthusiasm and “presence.”

If you want to see some of the things that I’ve done in the pass. Simply go here!

It’s fantastic being a British expat!

I’m an MA graduate from the University of Chester.
Whoopee!

Firstly, I was featured as a guest blogger on the University of Chester Alumni website, and I’m going to be on the University of Chester’s official Case Study posters for postgraduate recruitment too!

I love my academics so it was a great pleasure to do something on behalf of my alumni!

I was to be featured in the Sunday paper.
In Germany!

Then a week ago, I was to be featured in the Sunday paper. In Germany!

In GEEEEEEERMANY!

It happened so fast, that I didn’t even have time to tell anyone!

It happened so fast, that I didn’t even have time to tell anyone!

But you know what, I’ll tell you all about it anyway.

My favourite social media forum is Twitter!

I’m not a Donald Trump by any means, but you can find me there practically every day.

A fortnight ago, I received a message from a German musician pal, that there was a call going around, for British people living locally.

My favourite social media forum is Twitter!

He sent me the tweet, and I responded accordingly.

Before I knew it, we were in correspondence.

Now, this feature was for a national Sunday paper called Bild am Sonntag, which is the largest-selling German national Sunday newspaper!

The LARGEST-SELLING German national Sunday newspaper!

It was a great opportunity, but I was a little nervous as it’s a tabloid paper, similar to Rupert Murdoch’s News of the World!

They wanted to write a feature on Britain and British people living in Germany, because of Article 50 and the question of EU Citizens’ Rights in the UK.

After much contemplation, and a promise that I would get final approval of everything we discussed, I went ahead.

The journalist who contacted me was as good as her word.

They also booked a photographer who took a few nice photographs, at the location of my choice.

I chose the gardens of the Humboldt University in Berlin!

Sadly, the feature had to be axed in order to make room for the passing away of the well-respected and most honoured former Chancellor of Germany – Herr Helmut Kohl.

If they bring the feature back, you’ll be the first to know!

I was on a discussion panel at the Humboldt University, about Brexit and British people in the EU!

Then last Saturday, I was a member of a five (5) member academic discussion panel on Brexit, at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin!

I was awfully excited and honoured to be asked.

It took place as part of the Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften, or the Long Night of the Sciences on behalf of the Centre for British Studies, Berlin.

Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften, or the Long Night of the Sciences – Berlin / Brandenburg

The Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften or the Long Night of the Sciences is an evening where more than 70 universities, research institutes, universities of applied science, and technology-oriented companies in Berlin and in Potsdam, open their doors to the general public between 17:00 and 24:00.

Activities such as hands-on live experiments, installations, lectures, presentations, exhibitions, science shows, and guided tours in laboratories, are organised through the night, so that people can take a peek into the diverse world of science and research.

At the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and with our British flag!

My discussion panel was at the Main Hall of the Humboldt University and the topic was Brits in Berlin after Brexit!

It was chaired and hosted by the lovely Melanie Neumann, and the Speakers were:

At the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and with our British flag!
  • Jon Worth – A Berlin-based political blogger and writer for The Guardian and consultant. As well as a visiting lecturer at the College of Europe (Bruges) and the University of Maastricht
  • Shannie Monteiro
  • Martin Gordon – An all-time famous musician and talented artist with bands such as Sparks, Jet, Radio Stars, the Rolling Stars, Blur, and Kylie
  • Josie Thaddeus-Johns – A writer and editor based between Berlin and London, focusing on art and culture. She writes for The Guardian, among other important media outlets
  • Victoria Ade-Genschow (me) – The founder and Editor-in-Chief of this here highly successful website – The British Berliner – and a British-German socio-political expert who has been featured in various European documentaries and major European publications such as the Huffington Post, The Independent Newspaper (UK), Bloomberg Business Europe publications, Berlin-Brandenburg TV station, Berlin Music Video Awards (BMVA) Germany, etc. and is a contributor to the European Culture TV and German radio stations, as the local expert on the British Monarchy & other British issues!

We were an interesting mix of British people, and the discussion brought about heated debate.

Which is a very good thing!

Article 50 & Brexit in the UK. Everything you need to know!

Thanks so much everyone!

However, the most amazing thing that is ultimately to take place is the invitation to take part in a radio programme, at the BBC!

I’M DOING A RADIO PROGRAMME WITH THE BBC!

Yes, the BBC!

OMG! Isn’t this exciting!

I’ve been contacted by the BBC before…!

I’ve been contacted by the BBC before, but I wasn’t able to accept the project…! However, they must have still liked me as I was contacted a few weeks ago, and asked if I would like to be a part of BBC Radio 4 – Woman’s Hour – Late Night Woman’s Hour.

I accepted.

Phew!!!

BBC Radio 4 is a huge deal in the UK.

A HUGE DEAL!

BUT WHAT IS BBC RADIO 4?

BBC Radio 4 is HUGE!

BBC Radio 4 is a radio station owned and operated by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), that broadcasts a wide variety of spoken-word programmes including news, drama, comedy, science and history.

It replaced the BBC Home Service back in 1967 and is part of BBC Radio and the BBC Radio department.

The station is broadcast from the BBC’s headquarters at Broadcasting House, London.

And let me tell you, when I got the call, I was leaping up and down in excitement.

And sweat!

BBC Radio 4 is the second most popular domestic radio station in the UK!

Woman’s Hour is a radio magazine programme broadcast consisting of reports, interviews and debates on health, education, cultural and political topics aimed at women.

I’m going to be on the spin-off series called Late Night Woman’s Hour, presented by Lauren Laverne.

The series airs on a late night slot and each episode is on a single topic for discussion every month!

Our topic is going to be on travel!

BBC Radio 4 – Woman’s Hour – Late Night Woman’s Hour.

The series is not meant to be genteel, and has even raised eyebrows and proved shocking in some quarters!

The series aims to talk about things that intelligent women talk about with their friends.

It’s a good thing my teen won’t be listening!

Ho! Ho!!

If she can do it. So can you!

I’ve just done the BBC show and it was awesome. And you wouldn’t believe it, but the Bild am Sonntag piece was published after all! I haven’t seen it myself, but the newspaper is sending me a copy as you can only see it on the day!
And when I do, I’ll let you all know. Gulp!

Hey, don’t even get me started on the orange headed idiot that was voted President here. I didn’t vote for him. Take my word for it, the majority of Americans didn’t, and we are not like him at all. I pray the world gets better soon. This is crazy.
